There are "countless" ways to figure out how to make a blog more effective in terms of search engine optimization (SEO), it has been suggested.

Writing on web resource US News and World Report, sector commentator Matthew Bandyk explains there are a number of simple and effective strategies that marketers can carry out.

"A biggie is prominently using phrases that will cater to the potential customers searching for you," he notes.

Mr Bandyk continues: "So if you’re blogging about plumbing and you are based in Buffalo, don’t just blog about ‘drain clogs’, write about ‘drain clogs’ and ‘Buffalo.’"

The sector commentator also notes inserting links to other pages in posts can also make it more likely that search engines such as Google will find a blog.

Concluding, he states the more often a blog is updated, the better chance there is of it turning into a "must-read" site for clients.

Meanwhile, Graham Charlton recently wrote on E-consultancy, suggesting adding a visible RSS feed is a means to get more return visits to a blog.
